CompuDyne's Public Safety and Justice Division Installs Public Safety Automation System for the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport
Date: Monday, April 04, 2005
ANNAPOLIS, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 2005--CompuDyne Corporation (NASDAQ:CDCY), an industry leader in sophisticated security products, integration and technology for the public security markets, successfully completed the installation of a new public safety system for the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport ("DFW"). Tiburon, a company with CompuDyne's Public Safety and Justice Division, is an industry leading provider of automated public safety and justice systems which meet the demanding and complex needs of law enforcement, fire & rescue and justice environments.
DFW has used Tiburon software since 1997. Tiburon completed a major upgrade of the system, replacing both the Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management Systems for the police and fire/EMS services at DFW. The system also includes integrated mapping capabilities.
DFW is the third largest airport in the world and encompasses 18,247 acres in Dallas and Tarrant Counties. The average daily population of the airport approaches 120,000 persons operating approximately 34,000 automobiles. The DFW Department of Public Safety ("DPS") consists of more than 40 police units, 20 fire units, three EMS units, and 300 personnel. The DPS must meet all mandated reporting requirements of local, state and federal law enforcement, emergency medical, and fire protection agencies. Because of its unique jurisdiction, it must also comply with many Federal Aviation Administration rules, regulations and reporting requirements. DPS must also be immediately prepared for fast developing crises such as airline hijackings, hostage-taking situations, terrorist activities and major aircraft accidents. These all have the capacity to quickly threaten the safety of large numbers of people.
CompuDyne's Public Safety and Justice Division's emergency services software systems are installed in hundreds of locations around the world. They are designed to improve life safety and efficiency under the most difficult conditions and have unique capabilities in disaster tolerant systems. Already one of the largest providers of this software to state and local governments, CompuDyne has begun marketing to the federal government market as well as expanding its presence in markets such as airports.
