Director, Product Market Management

Primary Objectives of the Position

This position is responsible for managing and executing one of Tiburon’s product segments. Within this segment, the Product Director will direct marketing strategy, own product management, and may direct one or more Product Managers in all aspects of product marketing including product requirements definition, competitive analysis, product positioning and pricing, product development, product launch, and sales support.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assume primary responsibility for driving the understanding of one of Tiburon’s current and target market segments and drive development and execution of strategic product marketing plans.
  • Clearly communicate product marketing strategy for a product segment to senior management and to the broader organization.
  • Lead efforts to perform competitive market analysis to identify industry leaders, product requirements, and market trends for the owned segment.
  • Ensure that product requirements are translated into products that are competitive and responsive to market/user requirements by working in a cooperative relationship with appropriate Engineering Managers.
  • Coordinate production of product release materials including launch documents, roadmaps, sales materials and product marketing materials for the owned segment.
  • Perform gap analysis, identify and coordinate third party relationships for the product segment.
  • Perform business analysis for the product segment creating business cases for new features and products.
  • Establish and approve product pricing strategy for product suite.
  • Support sales and business development organizations working as an advocate for the product segment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ideal candidate will have 7 plus years experience in software product marketing, product management, and/or marketing program management.
  • 3 plus years previous experience at a Director level.
  • 3 plus years working knowledge of software and services and how they are positioned, priced, marketed and sold.
  • Demonstrated achievement in software lifecycle product management.
  • Strong track record of successful product introductions.
  • Experience shaping research and analysis of current and target customers.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong aptitude for determining the optimal way to position products in the market.
  • Strong pricing experience.
  • Demonstrated capacity for developing and executing on marketing plans.
  • Ability to travel frequently – sometimes up to 50% per month.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA a plus.
  • Direct experience in Public Safety highly desirable.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • During periods of travel this position may require additional lifting and carrying of equipment up to fifty pounds in weight.  Aircraft and automobile traveling for extended periods of time.
  • This position may require long hours and weekend work.
